On January 3rd, to kickoff the New Year, WCLSC met with the leaders of Mass Outdoor Heritage Foundation and Mass Wildlife at Mass Wildlife HQ to present a donation of $500 for the Hunters Share the Harvest Program. In discussions with the Foundation and Mass Wildlife, the most pressing need to continue to expand the program in 2024 is to find participating butchers through-out the state and raise funds to cover the deer processing costs. The Share the Harvest Program is completing its second year, whereby north central MA added a butcher to the program, building on the program success that started in SE Mass. WCLSC fundraising through its annual raffle and annual banquet auction/raffle program are sources of funds for these sportsman/woman related community programs. In the near future, Mass Wildlife will share details of the 2023 program participation, with the number of donated deer, pounds of venison, and number of families/meals provided. WCLSC thanks all the deer hunters who donated a deer to make this program a growing success.
